1.    Overall plan

A typical EPON system consists of OLT, ONU, and ODN. The OLT is located in the central computer room, and the ONU is the user end device. ODN is an optical distribution network mainly composed of one or several splitters to connect OLT and ONU. Its function is to distribute downstream data and concentrate upstream data. OLT is both a switch or router and a multi service provider platform, providing fiber optic interfaces for passive fiber optic networks. OLT not only provides network centralization and access functions, but also enables bandwidth allocation, network security, and management configuration based on different QoS/SLA requirements of users. A splitter is a simple device that does not require a power supply and can be placed in an all-weather environment. Generally, a splitter has a splitting rate of 2, 4, 8, 16, and 32, and can be connected in multiple stages. In EPON, the maximum distance between OLT and ONU can reach 20km, and if fiber amplifiers (active repeaters) are used, the distance can be extended.

Based on the current actual business needs and future development, Ruiguang Jiyuan proposes to adopt a rack mounted IDM-E8000 for the main equipment at the central office, and to use Ruiguang Jiyuan's FTTH 2104V or 2902E+IAD solution for the access layer. 2.                      Overall plan description:

The FTTH application mode is used for networking in the community, with FTTH terminals placed in each user's home. The EE2104V terminal provides 2 channels of POTS+4 channels of FE+1 channel of CAT interface to meet the access of voice, network, and on-demand services.

Place OLT equipment and combiner equipment in the central data center of the terminal office to provide Cable TV services, which are used to merge Cable TV services with voice and data services into one optical fiber for transmission. OLT provides various business interfaces to connect to the upper level broadband metropolitan area network, softswitch voice network, and video distribution network of Cable TV.

Deploy ODN splitter in the existing fiber optic junction box or fiber optic distribution box in the residential area.

In the whole solution, the user's Internet data service access is accessed through the FE interface of ONU at the user end, and connected to the broadband MAN through the GE/FE interface after the OLT convergence at the central end. The Internet access service can be configured as a lower service priority. The authentication method of the Internet service, such as PPPoE, our company's equipment supports the transparent transmission of PPPoE packets, so that the authentication and management method of EPON broadband users can be consistent with the current.

For voice services, IP telephones and traditional telephones are used to solve the problem, and voice services need to be configured with the highest priority.

For the Cable TV service, a multiplexer device is used at the local end to merge voice and data services as well as cable TV signals into one optical fiber for transmission. The cable TV signals are then transmitted to the cable TV through an RF interface.

The advantage of this solution is that the entire system adopts fiber optic access, providing higher bandwidth, longer distance, and wider coverage. The entire process from OLT to ONU is passive, reducing maintenance workload.

3.                      Characteristics of this plan:

1) The network hierarchy has been simplified. Users can access the telecommunications metropolitan area network with just one hop.

2) We can provide a wide range of business types. Each port of the ONU in the EPON system can provide high-quality QoS guarantees for business traffic, offering minimum guaranteed bandwidth and maximum bandwidth limits. Moreover, business customization is easy, and different SLA (Service Level) services can be provided according to different user needs, providing a concise technical implementation method for achieving differentiated services and high-value user services.

3) In theory, each FTTH ONU user can enjoy exclusive 1000M upstream bandwidth.

4) Beijing Ruiguang's EPON system has strong multicast support capabilities (IGMP Snooping and IGMP Proxy), providing end-to-end quality assurance for future multicast business implementation.

5) Easy to manage and maintain. According to the principle of EPON technology, each OLT and ONU is a logical whole, manifested as a hop at the network level. Each port of the ONU is a user port of the OLT. On the OLT, all configurations and management of the ONU and each port of the ONU can be achieved, which means that each user port can be managed through a network management system.

6) Unified network management. The access network of the entire community is a unified type of device, and OLT and ONU have unified network management, which greatly facilitates maintenance and management.
